Had to wait until near the end of the bottle to truly appreciate this one. Speysides tend on the demure, so I find a lot of warming up is in order. After all, exceed ny expectations with a rainsiny nose leading to oatmeal bite to punctuate a disticntly musty floral body. Similar to the geese it’s named after, narrow nose - wide body - definitive finish. Cheers!

Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 9, 2022 (edited July 10, 2022)Very mediocre. Sickly sweet with a oddly chewy mouthfeel. Think Clynelish but bad. Sticky and sweet: bad candy. How the hell did this win awards? Atleast it’s smooth. -
I very good showing from WR. A charger with more spirit than the usually charmingly demure stable. Bursting forth with a chewy cherry note with a trot into maple syrup and picking the gait up into an oak that leaves no splinters. A medium heat, but don’t let it pass you by. For this price, a sure bet.

Very well done! Quickly becoming my favorite Irish brand, this showing has a deceptively sweet nose, owing to the Cab aging no doubt. We’re quickly swept into the classic Irish twang surrounded by a veil of oat and prune (old timer’s breakfast) before a medium body end that burns just right. Slainte!
