Tastes

Note: Good basic Irish Whiskey. About equivalent to Jameson. Nose: Apples, freshly cut grass, cereal, hint of butter. Taste: Cereal, citrus, mild metallic, spice(pepper?), apples. Lacks complexity, very clean, No finish or aftertaste. How: Mixer or Neat/Chilled.

Note: A good bourbon for the price. Nose: Cinnamon, allspice, dark chocolate, caramel, cherry Taste: Black tea, char, vanilla, dark fruits, bitter chocolate, dark caramel, warm, bitter leather/tabacco/oak finish How: Neat or with small ice/water

Note: Classic if a bit overpriced. Nose: Very oaky and nutty, dried apricots, vanilla, Waxy nut(?walnut). Taste: Tart, creamy, sharp initial spike/bite that fades, thin with long finish. Cherries. Vanilla and butterscotch. Nuttiness and slight bitterness. Tiny smokiness and cinnamon at the end. How: Neat

Almost as much rye as a bourbon. Not a beginner drink. High proof. Nose: Astrigent, incense, Herbal, raisins, nuts, hint of pinot noir aroma. Taste: Very peppery, fruity, spices. Oily and clingy. Bitter tannin and pinot noir aftertaste. How: With water or single ice cube. High proof. Mellows out spiky notes and makes it fruitier.

Note: Moderate smokey and meaty Islay. Very well balanced. Nose: Savory, modest smoke, citrus brine, pipe tabacco. Taste: Savory, salty, citrus with long smokey finish. Very well balanced and not overwhelming. How: Neat and with food. Water punches up the flavor too much.

Note: One of my favorite American Whiskeys. Nose: Corn, vanilla, caramel, dried apricots. Taste: Vanilla cream, Caramel latte, milk chocolate, fruity, sweet, very soft and warm. How: Neat or slightly chilled.

Note: Fruitier style of Irish Pot-Still. Tasty. Nose: Green Apple, cereal, buttered toast, light caramel. Taste: Light, thin, Red apple, cream-butter, berries, malt, nuts. Warm. How: Neat

Note: Well balanced. Milder Peat smoke. Nose: Honey, vanilla with hint of smoke. Taste: Honey, caramel, citrus with a lingering aftertaste of smoke. Warm, with no burn. How: Neat or with dash of water.

Note: Barrell 20-3J: Good mid rye bourbon. More complex than smooth. Nose: Cherry, toffee, spices, vanilla. Taste: Vanilla, dried fruits, spicy, initial creaminess with spike in end. Mild bitterness. Water: More floral. more spices. How: Neat, dash of water or single ice cube,

Note: Excellent Japanese blend, crowd pleaser, easy to drink. Nose: Orange peels, incense, floral, citrus Taste: Sweet, Honey, floral, vanilla. Warm. Light, creamy and smooth. How: Neat.
