More interesting than good. Very sharp strong anise flavor. Meat more in the nose than in the palette. That is the other secondary flavor that comes through on palette. Faint sweetness. Other flavors if present are overpowered by anise and chicken

Not very complex but fantastic expression from maguey Melate. One of the best. Strong pineapple coconut flavors on the palette to start, then pleasant smoke and metal take over in the finish to balance. But the initial fruit notes linger long after dancing with the industrial notes. Also very viscous and rich. Excellent. Is this the mezcalera or the agave that brings these flavors?

3rd tasting apples, more viscous this time than dry, metal in the finish but now a huge waft of smoke that lingers and covers the palette until cleansed. More interesting than tasty. I don’t think I’d get a bottle bc not my thing but well made mezcal nonetheless

First tasting comparable to del maguey vida. Pretty mediocre

Decent dram, mild agave sweetness balanced with an earthy bitterness and jalapeño in the finish. Lacks the richness of maguey Melate expressions I’ve tried. Isn’t as tasty as most of the del maguey expressions I’ve tried. This is better than the bottom shelf Vida expression though

Comparable to del maguey mid level espadin expression

Second tasting. So weird. Totally different notes prolly bc I’m new to Mezcal but still excellent. Pineapple coconut at first, then astringency, agave, metal and smoke.

Second tasting faint apple and prominent metallic note make this more interesting than tasty.

First taste. I’m going to benchmark this against the del maguey expression from this agave type as my next dram, but this is one dimensional minerality like the Tepextate expression from this distillery. I think my initial love affair with Koch was just a passing fancy now that I’ve tried better stuff. Yeah. Just tasted the del maguey again, which is far superior. More complex, balancing minerality with fruit notes, more viscous. Fuck Koch.

Loved this when I first tried it but having tried 2 texpextate expressions from maguey Melate this tastes one dimensional. All minerality no fruit or other notes. Nice viscosity though. Given how hard koch expressions are to get in US, I won’t be seeking this out
