Balvenie The Week of Peat 14 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 30, 2020 (edited August 17, 2021)Just delicious. I call this the "gateway drug to Islay" because it gets you warmed up for a Laphroig or Ardbeg. But don't make the mistake of drinking Laphroig first as you won't even taste this one. However, if you start your evening with this fine bottle (or follow up your afternoon bourbon with it as I did), it's really special. Sweet and subtle, smoky and rich but in a light way if that makes sense. Anyway - cheers!105.0 USD per BottleNorth Miami Beach -
Glenfarclas 17 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 22, 2020 (edited February 18, 2022)I'm having this delicious Glenfarclas again (mid-week). I see I tasted this and posted a mercifully short review just last year. It's still delicious and, y'know what? I think the 17 is better than the 21. There I said it. Cheers!North Miami Beach -
This is a distinctive bourbon. It's rich and delicious, and the 126 proof is actually a treat (as long as it's on the rocks). I've gone through about half the bottle and took some extra time to decide - this shit is great. Not really an every day bourbon, but why not. At this price range I would compare to the Widow Jane 10, about the same price and both are favorites. Discovered this thanks to Blackwell's in San Francisco, their weekly email is great. 🥃🥃🥃89.0 USD per Bottle

Glenlivet Spectra
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 19, 2020 (edited November 28, 2020)I was expecting to be disappointed, I was expecting 3 bottles of similarly tasting scotch that wouldn't impress a scotch snob like me. I was very wrong. Each one was different and delicious. No cask info but we think we've got it figured out (I should say, my brother has it figured out). Taste them in order and enjoy. -
Enjoyed this on a Friday evening with my sweetie. You can absolutely tell this is a 21 year - so smooth. Sweet and a little vanilla, easy finish. But I hate to say, a little bit lacking in flavor. Sometimes these 15+ bottles lack punch and maybe that’s what happened here. Still it’s a special bottle and I am forever a fan of the Farclas!

Paul John Peated Select Cask Single Malt
Single Malt — Goa, India
Reviewed October 11, 2019 (edited March 9, 2021)A solid 3.5 star performer, it will do in a pinch and it’s enjoyable too, but not a rock star. Kind of one dimensional, a little figgy and sometimes too sweet. Still I’ll finish the bottle, since my brother left it here the other night.
