Tastes

This one is quite the vanilla bomb from start to finish. You can feel the heat and oak spice from the 116.8 proof. This is one of those bottles that you think is as good if not better than allocated bottles twice the price.

Not a whole lot to this whiskey, but there is some honey, vanilla and caramel on the palate. Best part of the pour is the finish when a decent little amount of oak shines through.

Since I really enjoyed Act 7 I got my hands on the latest Act 8 and did a blind tasting between the two to compare. Act 8 is still really good, but doesn’t quite compare to the previous year. It was sweeter than the 7 and less balanced. I think each year they add more of their own distillate so that can have some small effects on the overall whiskey. Still very tasty though.

This was my first time trying MWND and was bummed that I had never had it before because I’m a big fan! Sometimes bourbons finished in a wine barrel can be a bit too sweet, but I think it works much better with a rye that is spicier to complement the sweeter side of the wine barrel.
