GlenDronach Original 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 19, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)Dark fruit and sherry sweetness, oak, floral/herbal spice and sherry tannins/dryness. It's like a spicier, slightly dryer Bowmore 15 Year, without the peat. Great flavour but I wish it was just a tad sweeter. I wish the 15 or 18 year were available here for me to try. $77 in Ontario.77.0 CAD per Bottle -
Greenall's London Dry Gin
London Dry Gin — England
Reviewed August 17, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)Light and simple with juniper and the gentle bitterness and citrus of lemon peel. I haven't delved into gin in a little while so I don't have another classic London Dry to compare it to. It tastes like a more refined Beefeater. It's good. $26 in Ontario.26.0 CAD per Bottle -
Hornitos Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed August 5, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)Very similar to El Jimador Reposado. Good sweet roasted agave flavour but unrefined with a decent peppery bite. Not bad but better suited to mixing. $36 in Ontario.36.0 CAD per Bottle -
Macallan Gold 1824 Series
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 5, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)Oak, honey, sherry sweetness and tannins. A good light scotch. For the price point it's definitely worth the extra $10-15 compared to Glenlivet or Glenfiddich. $75 in Ontario.75.0 CAD per Bottle -
Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 2, 2017 (edited November 17, 2018)Not comparing side by side I don't know the difference between this and it's dearly departed 12 Year older brother. It comes across as maybe slightly young, maybe a bit thinner. It’s got great flavour but it’s a little flat, with dark caramel, rich chewy oak and herbal/floral rye-type spice. Similar to but not quite as robust/charred as Evan Williams Single Barrel. $50 in Ontario.50.0 CAD per BottleWhite Rabbit -
Glenfiddich 18 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 15, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)It doesn't necessarily remind me of fruitcake but otherwise Stephanie's Distiller notes are very accurate. Tree fruit, ginger, spice and a hint of vanilla. Although not compared side by side it comes across as the same as, but a little more refined than the 15 year. Not necessarily worth the increase in price. $157 in Ontario.157.0 CAD per Bottle -
Balblair 1990 2nd Release
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 15, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)Rich dark fruit, honey, oak, spice and soft smoke. Very similar to Bowmore 15 Yr Darkest but a little more robust and a little less sweet. Delicious but not worth the shocking price tag. $296 in Ontario.296.0 CAD per Bottle -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 14, 2017 (edited August 17, 2018)Crisp apple, rich sweet honey and oak. A hit of warm spice shows it's youth but fades fast. It rivals bourbons almost twice it's price. Same flavour profile as Maker's Mark. It's more robust than standard MM but not quite as robust as Maker's 46, which makes it an ideal wheated bourbon in my eyes. $37 in Ontario.37.0 CAD per Bottle -
It’s a solid classic rye with a beautiful bottle. It's got about as much rye spice as I’d want, without being overwhelming, as well as rich oak and a bright rich nondescript fruit sweetness. It’s got a slightly young/raw/bitter side near the finish (partially oak tannins) but the otherwise great taste profile is worth it. $56 in Ontario.56.0 CAD per Bottle

Matt's Distiller notes are good. I mostly agree with KC Bowling as well. Charred oak, leather, tobacco, a hint of dark dried fruit and toffee. I feel like I'm repeating the same review I just gave Lot 40. It's got good initial flavour but the dry char is overpowering and lingers. $33 in Ontario.33.0 CAD per Bottle
