Maple, mint and basil on the nose. Light maple and strong mint on the palate, followed by spicyness and some heat. It’s a different experience and my first rye, but for this price I doubt that I want to get it again.

Quite fruity, but not overly complex. Middle of the road type of whisky. I think for the price, there are more interesting choices.

Slightly briny on the nose, but not on the palate. Palate is rich, with a malty sweetness. Peppery and abrupt finish.

Nothing worthwhile to drink straight, but it’s a decently priced staple for whisky cocktails when entertaining.

Quite herbal, with a bit of smoke and sweetness. Not my thing.

Relatively light peat, giving a nice campfire feel, accompanied by slightly sweet green grass and a solid load of hickory. And a velvety, round mouthfeel. Really not that bad.

Wow, what a revelation. This is the first peaty whisky I truly enjoyed. Beautifully round smokiness, iodine and slight barley sweetness. Dry, crisp finish, bringing back the peat. Whoot!

Torn about this one. When I first opened the bottle, it was an experience to behold. A bit of leather and tobacco, making you feel like you’re sitting on the porch in a rocking chair, enjoying the sunset. But since the bottle has been open for a while, the front of varnish is becoming ever stronger and I’m not the biggest fan. Also, avoid ice in this. It brings out some strange bitterness.

Herbal, slightly briny, with a bit too much of a bitter finish. Strong notes of grass. Not bad, but not great either.
