Glenmorangie The Original 10 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 18, 2018 (edited June 5, 2018)Notch above glenfiddich 12 or glenlivet 12. Not sherried and dry like Mac 12. Good go to at a bar if you can’t make up your mind about what to drink. Maybe 3.5 stars. Decent neat. Good with an ice cube. -
Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 18, 2018 (edited June 5, 2018)Great sherried scotch. Taste a lot like my abelour 18... maybe not as smooth and with a shorter finish but a lot of the other notes are there. Good value for $. -
Macallan Double Cask 12 Year
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed March 18, 2018 (edited June 5, 2018)Mac 12 is a lot better. Mac 10 oak is better too. I didn’t like the mash up... it’s almost like the Oak and Sherry finish are competing too much. Might be good if you have never tried the stand alone 12 or 10 but I found this pretty disappointing considering the price. All that said I finished the bottle so it’s not terrible... just not as good as I had heard and hoped. I wouldn’t purchase another bottle. -
Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt (Discontinued)
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed March 18, 2018 (edited June 5, 2018)3.7 Stars. I think this is underrated. It’s almost like a different line than the 12, 17, and 21. Not nearly as smooth but good in its own right. I really like the malty taste. I get a bit of honey and dried fruit in the nose and taste. I find myself thinking of it separate of it’s big brothers and find it nicely balanced.
