Powerful dram. Nose - salty, briny sea air, pine needle, shy pear note, some smoke. Taste - medium bodied and syrupy, sweet malt, fresh fruit, complex, peppery, warming, heat. Finish - medium length, pepper and cinnamon and finally ashy and peat smoke, like the aftertaste of a cigar, it lingers for some time. My first experience of a peated whisky, and I must say not too fond of the ashy aftertaste, but still a good whisky.

Glenlivet 12 Year Double Oak
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 31, 2014 (edited January 21, 2015)My first glenlivet 12 and I was dissapointed. I much prefer the Glenfiddich 12, which is more robust and better tasting. The nose was ok, with hints of pineapple, vanilla and sweet honey. It tasted flat and very young, reminded me of jw red label.
