Reviewed March 14, 2019 (edited April 28, 2019)Nose: vanilla, cherry, maybe some rye but I’m coming off midwinter night’s dram so that could be in my head Taste: can definitely feel the proof, I’m still getting the rye, the vanilla and cherry from the nose is there with cherry almost cough syrupy Finish: my tongue is begging for mercy After reading reviews: I guess the rye wasn’t just me, my tongue is so spent I’m not sure on the viscosity. Reviewed March 14, 2019 (edited March 15, 2019)Nose: vanilla, caramel, rye Taste: spiciness from the rye, less sweet than the nose, the rye goes more pickle brine than anise Finish: pretty dry and spiciness lingers After reading reviews: I’m not sure which act/scene I tasted so not sure what to compare to. After reading mint on the finish, I got that. Overall, this was so hyped up in my mind that I’m not sure the reality lived up to it. Nose: bacon smoke, some medicinal but not overpowering, something fishy? Taste: nice savory smoke, really tried to find sweetness - maybe some honey Finish: in the words of my wife who begrudgingly touched it to her lips, “Ugh, it doesn’t go away!” After reading reviews: wow, I got the smoked mackerel note and yes it was money on the taste14.0 USD per PourThe Pint & Cork

I’m shocked this is only 80 proof. The pronounced spiciness had me thinking higher - where is that coming from, oak? Nose: slight acetone, honey, red apple, bread Taste: malt, a little honey and apple but less than in the nose Finish: hot - feels like decent proof, fades quickly After reading reviews: flaviar noted raisin - I thought that on the taste but not enough to mention it. I wanted to find the rum cask influence, but nothing jumped out at me.
