Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye (2020 Release)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 30, 2020 (edited September 25, 2020)Nose: popcorn and graham crackers. Kind of similar nose to Thomas h handy honestly. Creamy too. Palate: very creamy and earthy. Not too strong and not much bite being a rye. Super smooth. Very oily on the second sip and more flavors come out. That popcorn showed on the second sip. Finish: really really amazing finish. Lingering spice that literally lasts as long as a GTS finish. Really shocked at how good this rye is. Paid $160 and I could probably do it again. Definitely on par with Thomas H Handy too btw.160.0 USD per Bottle -
Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon (2020 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 18, 2020 (edited November 24, 2020)Nose: apples. A lot of apples. Maybe some apricot. Nice velvet vanilla nose too Palate: more apples. Such a smooth mouthfeel. Like butter. Much smoother than the regular small batch. Reminds me a lotttt of Booker’s batch 2015-06 but not as full of flavor. Very unique as well. Could probably pick out in a blind. Finish: long caramel and vanilla. Very complex130.0 USD per Bottle -
Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed July 15, 2020 (edited August 3, 2020)Sweet and spicy. Nothing complex about it. Get an orange and vanilla note to it. Would probably be great on an old fashioned. -
Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed July 7, 2020 (edited October 10, 2020)Nose: very unique nose. Lots of cherry with some baking spices. Palate: very full palate. Some rye spice shines through quickly and then vanishes. It was a very short bite and explosion then disappears kind of like a firework. Finish: spices and a bit of cherry left over. Short/medium finish.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Knob Creek 15 Year Bourbon (2020 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 3, 2020 (edited August 22, 2020)Nose: the nose is amazing. I’m a sucker for knob creek anyway, but still. Very oaky and caramel forward. Some cherries on the end Palate: lots of oak and caramel up front. Rich but light at the same time. I can see the store picks flavor within this but I think this lacks the punch. Finish: heavy vanilla finish and a pretty long one too As long as knob creek store picks, especially the older ones, are available I don’t think I’d buy another one of these for $100. But if those store picks go away I might buy some backups.100.0 USD per Bottle -
W.B. Saffell Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 19, 2020 (edited August 12, 2020)First it’s 53.5% not 53% Nose: nice balance of caramel and vanilla. Has a creamy vanilla tone to it. Cherries a little bit. Little to no spice Palate: rich, honey. Spice is there. Honestly taste a bit of age, not sure what the estimated age is if anyone has guessed. Kinda reminds me of woodenville a little. Palate: creamy and soft butterscotch.50.0 USD per Bottle -
