Tastes

Freshly opened bottle, pouring out some samples for my tasting buddies, and then poured into a wide mouthed whiskey glass. Not the best setting for a tasting, but here we go anyway: Pastries, cereal, honey, lemon, cedar, hints of smoke and orange peel, quite subtle and supple. The more I sit with it the better I like it.

A sweet, nutty, spicy elixir.

Quick hit review: Rich, viscous, silky, cherries, tobacco, refined oak, hints of baking spice, long finish with a serious Kentucky hug. Delicious neat.

First impressions: Malty, sweet and somewhat rich with apple crum cake, caramel, honey, hazel nuts and orange peel. Finish is longer than expected, bitter-sweet and appealing as the malt, apple, nut and orange notes linger.

Creamy, oily, malty, sweet, honey suckle, graham cracker, rounded, quaffable and delicious for an inexpensive blend.

Time for a real review (almost). Nose: Sherry, malt, citrus, sea salt, smoke, herbs and iodine. Palate: Sherry, baking spices, citrus, gram cracker, mixed nuts, vanilla, honey, peat in the background and latent heat. Finish: Sherry is prominent. baking spices, honey and seashore notes hold on a long time. Ultimately, delicious!

Crème brulee, orange peel and sweet oak greet the nose and follow on the creamy palate with some added baking spices and latent heat. Finish is long and spicy, leaving the sides of my tongue tingling and giving a nice Kentucky hug.
