Nice rum notes and not much else on the nose. This proved to be the best feature of this dram. Wow! Blast of spice and heat on the palate with some typical young rye notes. Finish is rather short but full of spice and heat, plus a little bitterness. A generous dose of water tamped the heat down and brought out some general sweetness on the palate but wasn’t really an improvement overall. Thanks to @ContemplativeFox for the sample.

I don’t remember how long this has been open, but it’s about seven eights full. I remember when I first tasted it I didn’t much care for it, I can’t remember why. But tasting it now, it’s a very mellow, tasty bourbon. I get honey, orange zest and slight baking spices on the nose. It’s pretty slick and a little spicy on the palate, with more honey and orange zest and baking spices. Finish is somewhat lengthy and spicy with the same honey and orange zest notes. A little one dimensional, but enjoyable enough.

Tasted three whiskies from Savage & Cooke and three from the Splinter Group last night. These are my quick take impressions. 6 of 6 Oily and slightly viscous, semisweet, caramel, vanilla, barrel char, baking spices, bit of glue, dig deep to get grapes, light sweeties candy appears on the nose late. Splinter Group ftw overall.

Drinks younger than it’s stated age. Dog of the night.

Like the Sagacity, it’s quite spicy, I liked it better with a little water, which brings out a much sweeter side. Rich, oily and jammy, with berries, oak, baking spices, vanilla, caramel and tropical fruits. Also very balanced. Would love to have a full bottle. Both this and the Sagacity are excellent. I give this a slight nod. Thanks to @ContemplativeFox for the sample.
