Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed July 25, 2022 (edited July 28, 2022)Nose: Orange zest, chocolate, raspberries, baking spices, vanilla, syrup, tobacco, hay, meaty sulfur and light smoke. Palate: Somewhat syrupy with honey, berries, raisins, vanilla, toffee, light amounts of chocolate covered orange candies, peat, baking spices, nuts and oak. Finish: Medium length with chocolate, vanilla, toffee and baking spices. Interesting, enjoyable whiskey. I would buy a bottle if I could find it at retail. HINE Cigar Reserve XO Cognac
Cognac — Cognac, France
Reviewed July 21, 2022 (edited February 25, 2024)Nose: Damp forest in the fall, trail mix, heavy on the raisins, baking spices like walking into a well stocked pantry, hunters smoking cigars around a camp fire off in the distance. Palate: Supple, honey, nuts, tobacco, vanilla, copious amounts of wood tannins, slightly bitter, sweet red fruits, fresh and dried, spices play hide and seek, quite complex. Finish: Long, but subtle with wood, floral, vanilla, sweet dried fruit, baking spice notes. -
Frapin Cigar Blend Grande Champagne Cognac
Cognac — Grande Champagne, France
Reviewed July 18, 2022 (edited July 24, 2023)Fruity and floral nose, vanilla, rancio, smoldering tabacco, figs, raisins, barrel spices on the semisweet and silky palate. There’s a slight bitter note in the lasting finish which I don’t care for, it just keeps building over sips. Otherwise, a really tasty Cognac. -
