Nose is marshmallow similar to the straight bourbon. Classic MGP nose. Mouth is hot and full. Round and rich. Pretty good juice. I use the rating scale below. Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Tasted October 3, 2020Tobacco, butter, oak, caramel, vanilla and nuts on the nose. Similar to ECBP A120 from memory. Can definitely smell the MGP profile. Slight marshmallow per usual with the Smoke Wagon. Sharper mouthfeel but it costs the tongue well. Warm and long finish. Doesn’t drink too hot. Slight cherry and more tobacco. Great juice. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Marshmallow, vanilla toffee and caramel nose. Heavy maple syrup after a few minutes of breathing. Palate is very smooth. Little heat on the center and back of tongue but it is a little delayed. Slightly oily. Medium finish. Overall a good bourbon. Would snag at retail, not at secondary. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Whoa. I love Stagg Jr and this is great. Nose is candied caramel apples, cherries and marshmallows. Getting butter after it’s sat a week. Palate is not quite as hot as the proofage suggests. Slightly more mellow that B13. More cherries - almost a cherry gummy. Apples and caramel continue. Still my favorite bourbon. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Freshly cracked. Third Base Market and Spirits pick. Nose is rich caramel, brown sugar and maple syrup. Light fruits. Tobacco in the forefront too. Nose is similar to a less fruity SJR B10 from memory. Similar to EHT. Robust classic bourbon nose. Palate is round and rich and creamy. I get the heavy dark cherries and tobacco on the back end. Long finish. Finish for dayz. Great bourbon. Like a higher proof 1920 which I love. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. I’m drunk and also on some Colorado products, but this is great. Oak and cereal/oatmeal come out on palate, but this is maple syrup with some cherry on the nose. Great bourbon. Little Book Chapter 3: The Road Home
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky , USA
Tasted August 21, 2020Damn. This is a great pour. I’m having it at a bar right after Elmer T and am blown away. Obviously it’s a higher proof, but was expecting something less. Similar to the oakiness and oatmeal/cereal of OE7 or EW SiB, but much better on the palate and finish. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Had a neck pour at a restaurant and will come back to this later in a better setting. That being said it was the best of my flight. Cherry nose. Very smooth and better than small batch by a long shot. Doesn’t have the buttery and spicey taste of the small batch. Round and warm. Long finish. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Slightly musty taste in this one. Unfortunately unable to get a great read on this. I had the last pour of a 2018 bottle so I think it may have been getting dead. Definitely very smooth. Will revisit once I have a better pour. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Bad - Multiple flaws. 4. Below average - Not bad, but many things I'd rather have. 5. Good - Just average. 6. Chocolate and cherry nose. Kinda musty. Somewhat of a lead paint taste. Probably something you get with old whiskey. Not gonna seek this out but it was great to try. I use the rating scale below.
