This one is hard to pin down: I get some apricot, underripe pineapple, grape, vanilla, and parsley. There's a strong hibiscus and jasmine quality lending floral herbaceousness to the pot and cutting any cloying quality. Interesting.

Thick and heavenly. Predominately sweet and rich with some fruitiness. Banana, pineapple, molasses, a little acetone, vanilla, brown sugar, and creme bruleé all make appearances. The finish breaks things up a bit with long oak and cinnamon notes. Solid.

Some cherry on the nose. Body is somewhat light with vanilla, oak, cocoa, caramel, brown butter, espresso, marzipan, and walnuts. The finish lingers pleasantly bittersweet. Excellent as promised.

A sleek and stylized bottle leads to a confounding nose. Tasting the spirit leaves one with an oily and vegetal experience. Portabella, white pepper, powdered sugar, cucumber, orange zest, parsley, grass, chamomile, and jasmine all make brief appearances before slipping back into obscurity to allow another to grasp the spotlight. This is a wonderfully complex, rich, and savory tequila.

The flavor palate on this one is fairly straightforward with pronounced cocoa, caramel, oak, and cinnamon notes present. The rye qualities show through fairly considerably as well with a fascinating combining of nutmeg, spearmint, honeysuckle, orange zest, and paprika. A very solid rye.

Creamed corn and caramel nose. The body is light and watery with familiar vanilla, cinnamon, and even a light cola note melding with the flavors that the nose gave up earlier. I'd like my bourbon fuller even on the bottom shelf. This is a mixer designed to bury in coke and I'm afraid this won't even stand up to ice.
  10. Fortaleza Blanco Tequila

This is phenomenal tequila. A grassy, sweet herbal quality wafts upwards towards the nose while chalk, terracottta, grass, guava, lime, sea salt, peppercorn, and orange peel roll across the tongue. More subtle notes of artichoke, coriander, and anise come into play as well to offer the herbaceousness promised earlier. This is an otherworldy spirit offering memorable complexity and terroir.
