Tastes

Caramel with strong spice on the nose and some rye. Spice comes in on the taste but not overpowering like the barrel proof. Also some caramel and tobacco notes. Finish has some spice to it and a little heat.

Oily, caramel, butter, toffee, oak. Standard nose. Smooth, sweet and buttery with some vanilla on the taste and rolls into a nice mild spice that lingers for the finish and clings to your mouth. Very enjoyable.

Standard nose, caramel, oak, butterscotch but with a little rye to it and maybe some peanut. Taste comes in buttery with caramel and nuts moving into rye and spice with a bit of apple. Medium thickness mouth feel and moderate heat towards the finish that lingers nicely, smoother than the 108 proof 4 year would suggest. Solid bourbon.

Nose of banana, caramel and vanilla. Taste is sweet with vanilla, maybe some citrus, and a little banana. It’s a lighter bourbon and impressively smooth and balanced for 100 proof. Finish doesn’t linger quite as long as some but it’s excellent.

Toasted dark oak and toffee with spices and maybe some brown sugar on the nose. Taste comes in oak forward with caramel but still heavy on the spice like the standard Dickel but a little darker and more complex. Maybe some cinnamon as it progresses and with some spices. Medium burn but good and not too hot, quite good when sipped more slowly. As I’ve tasted this it’s grown a lot on me. It’s less sweet and more oaky which makes it appealing when that’s the taste I’m after.

Smell is smooth with a nice Smokey tinge to it. Taste is more reminiscent of an Islay scotch but not quite as intense. Still has some sweeter toffee/vanilla notes too. I like it for a nice mid range option between the black and something like a Lagavulin. Smooth and one I would enjoy keeping around.

Corn on the nose with caramel and oak. Corn forward on the taste with medium burn. Nothing stands out to me about the flavor and a slightly strange after taste.

Same great taste from 1792, little hot as expected but the best barrel proof I’ve had.

Lighter on the nose with some toffee and apple. Taste comes in sweet and light but moves quickly into some heat. Lighter on the mouth and a nice finish where the heat fades a bit.

Tastes malted but you can taste some brown rice or brown sugar as part of it. Good but my taste buds were spoiled from barrel proofs.
