Tastes

Oak, butter, toffee on the nose. Pine, butterscotch on the taste. Hot but not as bad as some barrel proofs. Finish lingers with some heat but leaves a good mouth feel.

Really hot for a 96 proof. Good oaky buttery nose and the initial taste is good but hot through the finish. Might need a little water.

Nose of citrus and apple. Taste has some caramel and butterscotch along with apple and is quite refreshing. Finish moves into some more complex tobacco and mild spice that rounds it out nicely. Interesting and solid all the way through.

Caramel and oak on the nose. Spice forward on the taste but moves into some sweeter notes. Taste profile most similar to a bourbon but nothing overly draws me in to it.

Toffee, toasted wood on the nose. Strong wood flavor right off the bat, moves into a little caramel or vanilla and sweetness but a very oaky wood flavor lingers throughout the finish. It’s smooth but I’m yet undecided on the taste.

Sweet nose, butterscotch and toffee. Taste starts smooth and sweet matching the nose with butterscotch, toffee and maybe some vanilla. Moves in to mild spice for the finish but a buttery caramel finish lingers nicely. I rather enjoy it. Pretty smooth for a 100 proof scotch and more similar to an Irish than most scotches.

Slightly less sweet than other peated scotch, more smoke to it. It’s good but missing some of the meaty sweet notes that I’m a fan of.

Subtle nose of aged oak, tobacco, and maybe butterscotch. Taste starts off bitter and woody with a bit of spice. Moves into a bit of caramel for sweetness but not too much and the heat remains for the finish. Not sure how much I like this initial taste, will revisit another time. Second taste was much better, perhaps it had time to air out and settle a bit. The bitterness and woody taste went away and the heat mellowed out a bit to make it a very enjoyable sipper.

Nose has caramel with a bit of rye and oak. Taste has more of the woody and rye notes to it at first. Moved into sweeter notes towards the end with a bit of a honey and buttery finish but a hint of spice at the end. Very smooth and a solid rye.

Very peat and smoke forward but very smooth. Peat, flowers and smoke on the nose. Taste is oily with wood and smoke coming in but not overpowering the taste. Very smooth, the finish has a nice smoky taste that lingers well and has just the right amount of spice to it.
