Sagamore Spirit Straight Rye
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Maryland), USA
Reviewed May 11, 2022 (edited May 12, 2022)Standard rye from what I’ve come to see. Not bad but nothing stands out hugely. -
Basil Hayden Dark Rye
Other Whiskey — Multiple Countries
Reviewed May 3, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Definitely a time and place kind of taste. Mix between a whiskey and a wine, more to it and not what I would call a traditional whiskey. Dark cherry, caramel, oak, spice and a hint of sweetness on the taste. It’s thicker than some, like comparing a lager to an IPA. Very smooth and a finish more akin to wine than whiskey but not overkill. -
Basil Hayden's Caribbean Reserve Rye (Discontinued)
Rye — Multiple Countries
Reviewed April 30, 2022 (edited October 8, 2022)Very good bottle. Nose of oak, caramel and brown sugar. The black strap rum comes through on the taste for a great mix of oaky and sweet. -
Jefferson's Very Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 26, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Very solid standard bourbon. Reminiscent of a Basil Hayden with slightly more oak. Smooth, on the lighter side. Second taste has some cucumber or pear and less similar to Basil, maybe some pine. -
Woodinville Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Washington, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2022 (edited May 12, 2022)Toffee, caramel and tobacco are prominent. Bit of spice as you go through the taste. Good flavor, interested to compare side by side with the double barrel. After tasting, slightly strange taste on the finish that I’m not sure I love. -
Woodinville Double Barrel Blended Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — Washington, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2022 (edited May 12, 2022)Very small taste. Very smooth oaky caramel taste. You can feel the double barrel but it’s not overpowering. Quite good. -
Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 23, 2022 (edited August 14, 2022)Nose of oak, brown sugar and vanilla. Taste is very sweet and smooth, molasses, vanilla, some caramel and oak. Finish moves into brown sugar with a little spice. Slightly shorter finish but very smooth and easy to drink. Tasty and very comparable to Woodford reserve double oaked. -
Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 18, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)Rye with caramel, oak, spice on the nose. Taste starts with rye, caramel and the spice kicks in. Bit spicy but towards the end it’s tempered a bit by a buttery finish. Solid choice, enjoyable.
