Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 29, 2017 (edited March 31, 2019)First Speyside Scotch for me. Lots of vanilla and honey notes. Long finish with no burn. Great taste and easy to drink. Found on sale for $50 in CO. Definitely a cornerstone for my budding whiskey collection. -
Casamigos Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Highlands, Jalisco, Mexico

Laird's Applejack
American Brandy — New Jersey, USA
Reviewed December 29, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)There's enough apple in this to remind you that there's still brandy in it, but it drinks more like a whiskey than a brandy. Not great neat, but an excellent mixer for cocktails as well as for cooking. -
Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 29, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Purchased for $25 in CO. VERY sweet, almost a bourbon-like quality to the taste. First impression has a strong alcohol smell on the nose, but diminishes on repeat tastings. Lots of caramel and vanilla notes. Good neat, but could also see as a great ingredient in a cocktail . -
