Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 27, 2019 (edited January 10, 2020)Nose was boring and the only thing keeping this from being a 5 star. The taste blew me away with overwhelming sweetness. At first I was getting double bubble bubble gum and as my mouth got used to it that transitioned to chocolate. The spice isn’t overbearing and a perfect touch. The finish is short to medium with corn sweetness. This will be my new daily drinker. This bourbon was enjoyed neat as all bourbon should.45.0 USD per BottleCountry Discount Liquor -
Nose is very inviting. Very reminiscent of standard buffalo trace but sweeter almost perfumey. Very fruity on the nose (banana is what I'm thinking) followed by caramel, spice, and oakiness. Nice and smooth from start to finish. Palate is more fruit with cinnamon mixed with baking spices, oak and syrupiness on the finish. It almost leaves a whipped cream from the can on the after taste after awhile which I think I'm confusing for milk chocolate. Very exceptional bourbon. I.W. Harper 15 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 3, 2019 (edited December 12, 2019)Nose was vanilla forward with oak and a touch of caramel (when I walked outside and gave this a smell the nose changed to vanilla ice cream) loved this nose. Taste was sweetness off the back followed by cinnamon and spice and maybe bread (I'm picking up something to that effect). Finish was sweet but not picking up anything interesting but drinking the rest of my pour outside seem to be better. This bourbon was enjoyed neat as all bourbon should. -
Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 30, 2019 (edited December 6, 2019)Very smooth bourbon. Nothing special about it IMO to warrant allocations but it faintly reminds me of Makers 46. Nose is reminiscent of my very first whiskey shot I ever did. Taste is smooth and sweet all the way down. Definitely goes down too easy. The finish is probably my favorite as it reminds me of cherry cough medicine (syrupy good stuff). For $20 it's definitely worth picking up as beginner bourbon and for sharing a dram with friends but don't try to "hunt" this one down as I did (it's not worth stalking delivery days as I did lol). This bourbon was enjoyed neat as all bourbon should. *update* picked up a lot more cinnamon like big red chewing gum with a lot more spice and a creamy vanilla taste mid palate (I just had cheesecake before having a drink so I’m thinking this may be influencing the creamy vanilla). Also picking up slight honey. Raised the score from a 3.5 to a 3.75. It hit differently tonight after eating dessert but I still don’t think it warrants allocations.20.0 USD per BottleABC Fine Wine & Spirits
