Great all around balanced bourbon. Beautiful nose of baking spices like cinnamon and clove, fruits like fresh nectarines and apple, vanilla, banana, pear. Taste of oak, vanilla, brown sugar, little spice on the finish. I just love the balance of this whiskey and is always my go to for an old fashioned.

Nose 1: typical caramel vanilla and fruit on the nose. Smells very sweet. Slight musty smell or some type of earthy funk that was there right as I smelled it first and then went away. Taste 1: getting a little ethanol taste on the first sip. Followed by some caramel and vanilla. Very basic. Nose 2: getting more of the corn and grain on the nose this time. That funk I think is coming from the grains, wheat is likely. Taste 2: getting orange peel and spices of cinnamon and clove. Some brown sugar and maple syrup. Finish: medium-long, flavor sticks around on the tongue for about 25 seconds. Overall: for having been a cheap bottom of the shelf bottle I'd say it's pretty good. Same price as buffalo trace and I think I like this just slightly more. I remember a floral note in the buffalo trace and more of an alcohol taste. Would like to do a blind taste test between these two. Cheers

Nose 1: caramel oaky sweetness with apples and pears. Fresh and fruity. Also get some of the dark fruits like prunes or raisins. Smells like it is going to be very rich. Taste 1: definitely different but not in a bad way. Getting some tart blackberries and caramel sugars. Sweet oak comes through nicely. Mouth feel is almost syrupy! Also getting some toasted marshmallows, not burnt or on fire yet but just about to be. Also getting a little dark cocoa on the finish . Nose 2: underneath the caramel and oak and heavy sweetness is the well established raspberry and blackberry jam. Very rich. Absolutely beautiful. Taste 2: just so rich and delicious, you can almost chew it up. Nectar thick makes for a great mouth feel that really allows the whiskey to coat the palate. Does leave a dryness in the back of the throat in the end. Almost reminds me of the numbing feeling of those sore throat sprays. Very interested. Finish: medium to long finish. Overall: I got this on clearance at Kroger for 21.99! I practically stole it from them! For that price it's a must buy! I think I like this one more than the 1920 simply because I don't get the cough medicine flabor that I get with the 1920. Now that was a neck pour for both of these but this one is just richer and more viscous and more complex in flavor in my opinion.

Color: 7/10 amber brown Nose 1: is fruity and caramel. Very rich. Nose smells delicious. Slightest bit of ethanol. Not bad! Taste 1: very peppery with the spice on the first sip! This one drinks pretty hot. Getting an astringent note on the back of the pallet that really bites! Usually I'm good with spice and heat but this one is doing something to the back of my throat. The nose is deceptively pleasant. The palate is hot and spicy. The rye comes through nicely on this one. Almost tastes like some of the barely legal ryes on the market but has much more of a fruity caramel and burnt sugar quality to it. Nose 2: reminds me a lot of maker's 46 on the nose. The smell again is simply Beautiful! Very deceiving! Taste 2: that heat does not let up! Normally it will subside on the second sip a little after the palate has been acclimated but this is really kicking my ass, and I love it! Overall: not sure its worth the 50 I paid since there Are so. Many choices at that price range that are single barrels or barrel proof or both! This is a small batch whiskey for 50! A little steep in my opinion. This is not a beginners bourbon! Cheers

Nose 1: roasted marshmallow and graham crackers with dried cherries and vanilla. Toasted oak and smokiness comes through as well. Very inviting fruity nose. Like a bowl of fresh fruit! Taste 1: getting an interesting savory note of buttery carmel on the front of the palate. Followed by some delicious baking spices and cinnamon and nutmeg. Very warm and rich. Velvetty and buttery. Very nice! Nose 2: chocolate covered cherries and raisins. Dark fruit and those same burnt marshmallows come through again. Taste 2: fresh dark vanilla bean and some honey roasted peanuts. Damn this is good! Reminds me a lot of the complexity and taste of the elijah craig barrel proof, but more fruit forward. Slightly more. Pungent on the nose but still very friendly for 125 proof. Overall: I am seriously enjoying this. I only paid 45 for this bottle and I am extremely pleased. It is up there in the category with the elijah craig barrel proof and the wild turkey rare breed that I love! I also love the small batch of 1792 but this is so much richer and nuttier and buttery. Yum! Pick this stuff up!

Nose 1: quite delicate and fruity for 127.2 proof. I get the vanilla and carmel, some dried cherries and dark chocolate. Cinnamon and stewed fruits. Brown sugar and cinnamon with butter. Wow this might be the best nose of any whiskey I've ever tried. Taste 1: wow that barrel comes through making it so nice and toasty! The caramel and vanilla is beautiful! The spicy characteristic comes in the form of cinnamon and clove and nutmeg. Reminds me of an Italian Christmas cookie my grandma used to make. Nose 2: same same same so damn good! Taste 2: I love that its such a high proof it really just carries the flavors on your palate so well! This has a very long finish that sticks around for well over a minute. This is literally the perfect bourbon for me. Flavor profile for me is right on the money. I can't believe how long I've waited to try this! So worth it!

Beautiful dark carmel color Nose 1: carmel and vanilla with some spice and orange peel. Smells super good. Taste 1: vanilla, caramel and brown sugar with a hint of orange peel and a slight herbal note. Also get some fresh green apple and cherries. Nose 2: getting a Carmel apple with some rye. Taste 2: medium finish not the longest. But it does stick around enough to remember it for a good 20-25 seconds. I already finished my pour and I still want more. This is a very easy drinking bourbon. Love the spicy kick on the palate at the beginning and the balance of vanilla and carmel. Great daily drinker for only being 31 dollars a bottle at Costco. Can't speak highly enough of this for it's price range. This would also make an excellent cocktail due to the complexity and spice. Very rich. Great job New Riff!

Nose 1: so in the nose I'm getting strong sense of alcohol at first but then I'm getting also like a really dark, nice, old rye type of flavor. Reminds me a. Little of the kentucky peerless 3 year small batch rye. But not quite as rich on the nose as that is. I also get a light herbal quality. Taste 1: dill, heat from the spice and alcohol, rye bread, cinnamon, vanilla and carmel, sweet oak, orange peel. This is a good balance between a super high rye mash bill and a low rye mash bill like knob creek. The age is what's making me like this so much. I'm such a sucker for that charred oak flavor fro.. the barrell. This has a long finish that lingers for a while. Nose 2: orange peel and carmel candy. Sweet and savory. Honey and dill lingers. Brown sugar sweetness. Taste 2: dill again that transforms into citrus and then finally that brown sugar sweetness that feels like it remains on the tongue and sticks to it for a while as it finishes. Good finish, still going as I write this. I like the feeling it leaves on the tongue. Mouth feel is good. Great rye! I'd put it into the same category as the knob creek rye, maybe this one is a little more rye-like. Not as sweet and caramel-y as the knob creek. I could drink this neat or use it for a great cocktail! Cheers!

Light in color and body. Nose 1: very light and fruity nose. Definitely getting pear andgreen apple. A little dill and lemon zest. Quite nice actually. Also get a nice fresh rye bread. Taste 1: definitely get the dill on the front of the palate. Short to Medium finish. Warms up the chest quickly. Nose 2: a lot of the same in nose 1. A little bit of the juicy fruit gum scent. Taste 2: taste is young with fruit and dill. Finish is medium length. This is probably best suited in a cocktail that needs a little extra rye punch. A little ethanol burn on the back end but the rye flavors kicks it back down a little and mellows it out. Very distinct flavor not a lot of char or oak notes which I kind of miss from this whiskey. I only paid 20 dollars for this bottle so I'm not too terribly disappointed. I'd also like to note that I'm used to ryes with a lower rye mash bill which is why it might just be my palate telling me it's not what I'm used to. I will definitely keep at this one and try it in a cocktail or two.

This is pretty darn good. I cant stop thinking about banana bread with the bits in it. It is seriously the closest to any specific food I've tasted in any whiskey. It is very good though. Nose is banana bread, nuts, vanilla, and honey. Taste is rather complex and very smooth. There is a bit of a spice to it like baking spices of cinnamon and nutmeg. I'd buy this for sure!
