Sangallo Basilico Liquore
Herbal/Spice Liqueurs — Liguria, Italy
Reviewed May 17, 2022 (edited July 29, 2022)Everything I was hoping for in a basil liquor. Wonderful herbal aroma and flavour with just the right amount of balancing sugar sweetness and alcohol heat. Extremely fresh.25.0 EUR per Bottle -
Pains me to say this as I have some Abruzzese blood coursing through my veins, but this may be my least favourite amaro of all time. Cacophony of medicinal herbal and orange citrus notes that just don't meld together. Thick consistency; very similar to San Marzanno Borsci Elisir amaro - but it just doesn't work well for Punch.Toronto

Deceptively strong as it smells very sweet. The taste is sweet as well, but there is some boozy that is masked in the aroma. Definite flavour of vanilla; some honey as well. Less citrusy and less fruity than I was expecting (there is some citrus, but it is very much in the background). Not particularly herbal either (I thought this might be a Spanish amaro; it is not). Benedictine may be the closest comparable, but 43 has a more syrupy profile and stronger vanilla presence.31.9 CAD per BottleToronto
