Tastes

Surprisingly varied. Oak and banana with some caramel. Bit too much methanol and lacking in true depth of flavor but excellent in the tier nonetheless.

Earthy rye. Smooth but lacking in complexity. Smack of ethanol which is not expected or appreciated in a lower proof rye.

Great clean rye flavor. Smooth especially for its proof. Could use more depth of flavor.

It's distinctively bourbon, but paradoxically it tastes like no bourbon you've ever had. The fruity forwardness of it, the total absence of any alcohol burn; it's weird and wonderful. I can see some people finding the contrast off-putting; to me the presence of a Bourbon capable of genuine surprise is as refreshing as a cold fall morning.

Excellent peat, low complexity coupled with too much alcohol flavor holds it back from its full potential.

Not bad, doesn't fail at anything significant but similarly fails to do anything of note; "unremarkable" is a quality I try to avoid.

Complex and refined blend of flavors. Less smoke than I like but makes up for it in other places.

Lacks the refinement of Ardbeg 10, or the rich peat of Laphroiag's quarter cask. Still excellent, but not 5 stars.
