Old Grand-Dad 114 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 17, 2020 (edited September 29, 2020)One of my fav bourbons. I just finished a bottle a few weeks back and am working on bottle #2. Nose is cinnamon and spice. With a little oak. Palate is a oily mouthfeel with that oaky spice and cinnamon. You do get a little proof burn but it is 57% Alcohol so there is that. Finish is a little more spice and oak. Really love this whiskey.30.0 USD per Bottle -
Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 16, 2020 (edited October 19, 2020)This is one of my basic cabinet staples as a daily sipper. It's not extremely complex but it's only $18-$20 a bottle. It fits the bill for a great basic sipper. Nose is oak with caramel and spices Palate is banana bread with spice and oak finish is medium long with more oak and spice. I love this and hits well above its price point. -

James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Rye (100 Proof)
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed August 15, 2020 (edited August 18, 2020)Doing a flight of this to the 1776 bourbon and Pukeaville. The Pikesville is richer a I prefer it. However, $30 vs $50 & 100 proof vs 110. I already know I love high proof. I am ending the night with this compared t otto the 1776 bourbon. Not entirely fair as the Rye is an MGP and the bourbon is from KY and most likely James Pepper's own distillate. When put head to head with the bourbon I can taste more dill than I previously tasted. It still tastes a little young and harsh. see my other review for more details.30.0 USD per Bottle -

James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Rye (100 Proof)
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed August 15, 2020 (edited August 16, 2020)sweet nose with an ethanol punch on first pour. Get a little less burn after 1st sip. Getting a slight oak nose after 1st sip. 1st sip is a nice spicy punch with a good KY hug. 2nd sip still gives that spice with a little bitterness that is ever so slight. I know that flavor but can't recall it. It's not unpleasant and I like it. Finish is rather short with a little.spice. I keep going back to the nose and keep getting that spice. Overall, It is a young rye but I like it. -
