Octomore 06.3/258 Islay Barley
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed May 6, 2017 (edited July 11, 2017)Much richer and deeper than you'd expect at 258ppm. Everything that I love about Port Charlotte was exponentially magnified, revealing a magnificently textured, complex dram--honey, salt, chocolate malt, green barley, black tea, picked herring, and a slight spice. The smoke and ash brooding underneath the palate, carrying it into a long full-bodied finish of honey, salted caramel, oil, and smoke. This was a beautiful whisky, easily one of my favorites from the distillery and my favorite Octomore bottling so far. -
Octomore 07.2/208 Cask Evolution
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed May 6, 2017 (edited June 24, 2019)The only Octomore I've drank so far with noticeable flaws. The nose was decent, but I got quite a bit of cardboard on the palate. I did this in a line up of 5 (6.3, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, & the 10 Year). This was easily a step down from the others. -
