Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye (2021 Release)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 6, 2023Bottle open about a year, thought I already added my notes. Nose: peppery caramel with mint Palette: cola and vanilla up front. Very smooth with a medium body. Back palette is spicy with baking spice and pepper. Some caramel sweetness sneaks in. Not too oaky, but the dryness is there. More mint and anise on the finish. -
Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond 19 Year (Fall 2022)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 1, 2023 (edited January 2, 2023)So grateful to be writing this Nose: baking spices and caramel. Some raisin and or fig. Palette: first off, the body is amazing. Like maple syrup coating the tongue. Some cola and char in there, anise, cinnamon, dried fruit. Slight nutty flavor in the back with good dry oak tannins. Not overly dry, but helps to bring out the other flavors. Candy peanut and toffee help to round off the tannins, but the dryness stays around, along with the sweetness. So well balanced, with a great mouth feel. Some critics have written about this one maybe being too long in the barrel, but maybe there sample loses something compared to a full bottle. This is wonderful. -

Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon (2022)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 23, 2022 (edited February 3, 2023)15194/15600 Mahogany color Nose: vanilla marshmallow with banana pastry. Palette: sweet vanilla with marshmallow and orange marmalade, fades to a cherry cola, wow this is all over the place! Chewing brings out some rye mint, cookie dough. Body is medium, but the flavors stick to the tongue. After a while the oak tannins shine on but with more sugar. Seems the OE carry the load on this one. Excellent! -
5280 barrel select, aged 9 years 10 months 57.3% warehouse SS barrel 84-3D Nose: citrus and caramel nose. Palette: brown sugar fades quickly to chocolate and berry flavors. Vanilla and floral peanut, if that makes any sense, maybe raspberry? The finish leaves a tingle on the tongue with a candy mint finish.
