Arran Sauternes Cask Finish Single Malt

Not balanced, very peppery.

I went on a month's mission. I tried 50 different whiskeys. This bottle ended up in my top 5. Nose: Floral Palate: Honey, floral, sugar, vanilla. A tiny bit too sweet for my taste so it's more of a dessert Whiskey but still, very interesting.

Really thought it would be better. Not as sweet nor smooth as I hoped. Still, quite good.

What is this? Plain Arran malt whisky finished in Sauternes wine barrels. Sauternes is a French white and sweet dessert wine. Where do dry oak, hard tannins, spiciness, and burning alcohol at the finish come from? A small splash of water helps, but I would rather enjoy my whisky than drink tap water. 5.5.2021 note: let it sit for a few minutes, add little water and it's not so harsh and burning. Spicy and balanced. 4 stars.

Needs a touch of water

Honey on the nose for me, then a slight warmth with a little salt and maybe slight lemon peel? Lovely, and it's not usually my style at all.
