It’s just not good. I’ve tried to like it. I have a drink, nope, put it back, try it a month later. It has never gotten better. There is half a bottle left and I’m done. A little Smokey, a little meaty, but this doesn’t work for me.

On the nose, this has that distinctive dense, oily Balcones scent of vanilla new oak and cherry cola. Its fruity and sweet grain/malt funk also. It’s very different on the nose from most bourbons. There’s a lot going on here.
The flavor is rich with baking spices and hot oak. I get pecan pie too. Again, it’s one of the most unique tasting bourbons I’ve tasted…could be the pot still. It’s really good, but it’ll be interesting to see how a seasoned bourbon fan would react.
Sort of soft smell, corn of course, but also nuts, coffee, brown sugar, wheat bread, caramel, oak and vanilla. Little sweetness; more spice; coffee on the palate. Lots of grain and charred wood flavor. Roasted coffee and cinnamon in a short finish.
This is a unique-tasting bourbon. For that reason I THINK I like it overall. Lower proof for the Balcones line, which is nice for some. Sweet corn and some barrel/woody notes. Comparing this one with other classic bourbons (Makers, Knob Creek, Buffalo Trace, Evan Williams, Woodford) really brings out the differences. I’d imagine this would be killer in an Old Fashioned.
On the nose I'm getting vanilla, candied fruit, a little oak, and fresh corn. A good bit of ethenol burn on the taste no doubt due to the young age. Good rich mouth feel. Tastes of rich caramel, oak, and toasted corn. For the price, I like it a lot.
