Benriach The Smoky Twelve

A little thin. Smokey and sweet. A good dram

Nose: peaches, vanilla, grilled blood orange, sugar cookies Mouth: chocolate, butterscotch, vague citrus and a touch of smoke Finish: cocoa, baking spices

Color: Golden amber Nose: Smoky, butterscotch, smoked fish, lemon, barley sugar, honey, menthol, spice Palate: Spice, astringent, lemon, smoke, brown sugar Finish: Short to medium, citrus zest, spicy, heat, lemon

Only a sample. At first the peat overwhelms a bit, gets better after a few minutes.

Visceral mouth feel. Delicate.

This is what a Scotch should be. The only reason I’m not awarding 5 stars is because I’m the type of parent that will raise a child to have anxiety issues.

Very sweet start with a bitter finish. Plenty of smoke on the nose and palette. Nose: charcoal briquettes, charred oak Taste: dark chocolate, sugar, oak

Nice touch the marsala maturation. Like the interplay with highland campfire peat. Best of the benriach core expressions I’ve tried. But still haven’t tried 25 yr yet. This is too young though. Would be interesting to try this at 15-18 years old
