Right off the bat it smells of raisins and cherries. There's some vanilla in there and a woody note underneath.
It's sweet up front, like dark fruits, and turns a little bitter on the back end.
It wouldn't be my choice for a sipper, but it makes a nice sidecar.
The nose has a big burn; also a burn on the roof of the mouth. Caramel, honey. The grape component is pungent and sticky sour. The sweetness is a tad cloying, so I can see how certain palates might cotton to it. I will need to develop a better palate for Cognac.
Aroma is strong alcohols, caramel apple and almond biscotti. Caramel apple & almond biscotti continue into the palate with some spice from the wood. Finish stars smooth and sweet but quickly goes to a burn
