Nose: light nose. Sweet, Honey or caramel, peanuts/pecan or corn??
Palate: oak first followed by Carmel, honey -ish
Finish: amazingly smooth finish for 99 proof. Quick hint of spice and nuttiness
Solid pour for the price point.
2.75/5-
1- drain pour
2- ok but better ones out there
3- solid, can be a daily sipper
4- damn this shit is good
5 - nectar of the gods, the illusive magical unicorn.
A solid pour but doesn’t hold against competitors in this price range. Early Times BiB puts this one down. Still, great up front but flops on the finish.
Nose: corn, brown sugar, nuts
Taste: peanut, slight wood, little burn that lingers, as it opens there is a sweet vanilla.
After: dies off quick but there is a burn.
For price this isn't bad at all. Will revisit after bottle has opened.
I prefer this almost immeasurably more than Ezra Brooks' standard 90 proof expression, which I find to be thin and flat. This 99 proof isn't terribly rich, but it is another bottle that has just enough higher rye complexity to keep it interesting.
