Filibuster, based in Washington, DC (hence the name), is known for their dual cask spirits. This bourbon was first aged in new charred American oak, then finished in French oak casks that once held red wine. The idea is that the tighter grain of the French barrels imparts more flavor to the whiskey.

"The effect of the wine finishing here is not nearly as overpowering as it is with their rye. Because bourbon already has inherent fruit flavors and spice, a touch of red wine in the finish gives it a nice grapey note. This is still a young whiskey and has some sharp edges, but could be mellowed with some ice. Even better, would make a suitable base for a cocktail, especially one with fruit."
