First pour and I am seriously in like with this one. Intense, but lovely nose with musty, nutty sherry, dried red berries, orange zest and honey. Feels rich and syrupy on the palate with loads of the same notes as the nose, a little heat and bitterness. Finish is long, sweet and savory.
GLASS:
Glencairn Whiskey Glass
NOSE:
Spiced apples, banana, vanilla, oak and, cereal
PALATE:
Even with a generous amount of water added the alcohol was overpowering any other flavors. More water didn’t help. This was chemical and medicinal. A hot mess on the palate.
CONCLUSION:
Hard pass. Like drinking a burning tire.
Took some time to open up. Very spicy nose. Baking spice and butterscotch appear with time, as well as a fruitiness. The palate is a little syrupy and fruity. Some water toned toned down the harshness and brought out some nice vegetal and extra fruity notes. The finish is long and satisfying.
