This is a good, solid, sherry finished whisky. Stick with it past the shoulder, as the first few pours are a little tight and medicinal. The value allows for this to be easily attainable for a moderate unpretentious scotch lover, trying to avoid peat. The notes I get are PRUNES... cereal, and vanilla which seem to jump, not flow, from one experience to another.
I really like the idea of this as a gift, for those who only drink scotch occasionally, maybe for a bourbon lover. The value is killer, and does pop this up 1/2 point past the independent evaluation of the scotch.
5.0 - go out and buy all of the stock you can find.
4.0 - must buy at least one bottle before you die.
3.0 - solid, must try at a bar, or mooch from a friend.
2.0 - didn't like it, you may.
1.0 - you may have the palate of my dog, and he licks his own ass.
