Reviewed February 16, 2023I thought I was crazy but I keep coming back to this and I get acetone on the nose. I mean it is uncanny. I do get a bit of vanilla, caramel, and spice but the acetone is prevalent. Taste is good but not whiskey of the year good. -

Reviewed February 15, 2023Took a flier on the $30 whiskey of the year, assuming I’ll never see it again once the collectors and fanboys descend. Maybe they won’t though, because it isn’t that great. Heavy oak tannins, syrupy spice and a dry, bitter finish. Not for me.30.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed February 9, 2023 (edited February 13, 2023)NOSE - Smells like BBQ and smokiness. Some nuttiness comes through. Very smoky though like BBQ paired with jack daniels. Classic banana rind comes through slightly on the back end. PALATE - Nuttiness and smoke. Banana rind bbq’d and caramelized. Super nice and “smooth”. Probably one of best whiskeys at $25. FINISH - Finish follows the palate all the way down. Minor cinnamon barrel spice following that 100 proof but down so mellowed down and soft. -

Reviewed February 5, 2023Great body and moderate peaty flavor with a bit of a burn at the end. Highly recommend especially for the price. At $30 retail, can’t go wrong with this.30.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed February 4, 2023 (edited February 5, 2023)Dark copper in color, sparse and unevenly spaced legs. Once the initial sheet runs off it's quite sticky on the glass. The nose is vanilla, barrel char, cacao. Dark chocolate malt balls and ripe fruity notes pop through. Soft on the palate and initially quite sweet. Immediately after the swallow a spicy heat emerges and warms the chest more than 100 proof would indicate. Cedarwood, tart fruits and a nearly bitter but not unpleasant dry oak mingle with some lingering sweetness, and a reemergence of the ripe fruits: chocolate covered maraschino cherries come to mind, but only in the background. It's definitely a terrific value. There's a nice interplay between the richer, sweet side, the spice and char, and the background fruit and chocolatey notes.34.99 USD per Bottle
