Reviewed March 29, 2025The nose starts off with oak, baking spices, touches of cherry syrup and floral rye spice. It comes off as a little hot, but very full and rich. It has quintessential notes of a full-bodied bourbon. The palate fills the mouth with a strong burst of baking spices followed by oak, as cherry syrup and floral rye spice follow quickly behind. It's hot and dry, but bursting with flavor. It mellows as it breathes, but each sip still leaves the mouth tingling yet full of flavor. The notes of cherry and baking spices definitely are the showcase with this one, making this the perfect whiskey for something that is big and bold, and with a nice kick. The finish is long with lingering notes of spice, oak and cherry, that turns slightly astringent yet not off-putting. There's a bit of a chew where you can get more flavors and more spice, as it all slowly fades.
