Lagavulin Distillers Edition

For me, Lagavulin Distillers Edition is a slightly improved and nuanced version over Lagavulin 16. Both are quintessential Islay Scotch whiskeys. It is very flavorful with a nose of dark, sweet fruits, sea salt and iodine. The finish is warm and comforting. There are other more complex and richer Scotch whiskys but there is nothing to not like about this offering.

A gentle giant and my personal reference point for all other whiskeys. Perfectly balanced mix of peat and dark fruit, like a baroque painting of a majestic horse in the throws of war. Or the depraven crew of a wooden Man-of-War rejoicing at the sight of dry land. I feel at home each time I revisit this whiskey, as if I’m being connected to the spirits of my ancestors. Nothing else has come close, it is perfection.

Tydligt rökig på doften, bacon, tjära och lite fruktig. I munnen kommer först en fruktig sötma följt av en havssälta och en djup lång rökig finish.
