Lagavulin Distillers Edition

I tried this at a friend’s whiskey tasting side by side with the 16. The 16 is a favorite Islay of mine but I consider the distiller’s edition as a cut above. The peat hits the nose and lasts to the finish without overpowering the other flavors. Smoother and more complex than the 16 in my opinion.

The best way to describe this when comparing to the 16 is "refined". Sweet AND smoke. I get plenty of fruit and a smidge of iodine with a mint finish. Just like your favorite potato chips, near impossible to have just one. Well worth the money.

So good. Peaty, thick, oily.

Very complex.

Amazing. A mellow, mature and complex version of the 16.
