Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year

A nice gift from some friends. A damp smoky sweetness. Carmel colored. No distinct nose.

Rum notes make it a bit sweet; quite smooth

Definite rum nose. Vanilla with ethanol. Carmel spicy finish.

Aroma: Honey, sugarcane, and light floral notes. Flavor: The rum barrel aging lowers the whisky hit ("fingernail polish remover" as my wife would say) and adds a touch of sweetness that's not overpowering. A quick initial taste of apple. A dash of water brings out the hint of vanilla for me. I like rum and drink a variety but I can't necessarily taste the "rum" here. However, I admit my taste bud population per square inch is on the lower end of the bell curve : -( Spicy/alcohol after-burn, especially if "savored" for too long. Tends to taste better after a few sips have gone down (due to numbed taste buds?). Tasting based on neat sipping.

Good, but too much heat in the finish for me to sip easily.
