The whiskey that got me into whiskey. I have a soft spot for it, which is why I gave it a 3.25 rating.
Water is added already, so one could argue it's a waste of money but it's tasty & smooth.
This was the whiskey recommended to me by a store owner when I asked for a whiskey as a beginner.
After which I further expanded and learned more.
And although I haven't bought one of these in a few years, I also recommend it to beginners. It's a nice light but tasty drink.
Not good to use in a mix. Not all that much character
Nose: very light brown sugar, some baking spices, vanilla
Palate: rye bread, caramel, vanilla a faint maltiness
Finish: short, tart apples, some more baking spices
Low proof hurts this one, it has mass appeal as an easy drinker but nothing to write home about, the neither the malt or mgp rye show through. I doubt it would even stand up in mixed drinks very well.
