The hype is real.
Rare Breed has been the most recommended Wild Turkey bourbon from bourbon enthusiasts. I’ve tried the regular WT, 101, Russell’s 10, and Russell’s SiB.
This is 101 with more brown sugar, some heat, and brighter fruit notes like strawberries, cherries, and apple. I’m loving it. I don’t get as much of an oaky note as I do with the Russell’s. Comparing the Russell’s SiB to the Rare Breed, Russell’s is a more well-rounded bourbon with that signature WT nutty note. However, the Rare Breed has no faults. It’s what I love about WT cranked up. Dare I say that RB is more “fun” to drink if that makes sense. It’s like comparing a gourmet steak (Russell’s) to a thick, juicy hamburger with all the fixings (RB). I’m very happy with Rare Breed and plan to keep it in my shelf moving forward.
