I tried ...I really did. This is a bomb of perfume and soap for me. At times I can get some malt and a bit of smoke but no....just no. It verges on undrinkable imo plus the ridiculous price of over $50. I let it air out with bottle open for some time but it is still laundry detergent. I honestly hope I got a bad bottle but no way in hell I would chance it again......55/100.......Not sure if this can be mixed to hide the soap but dont care anymore as I feel screwed at price paid........ymmv

@ctrexman maybe I have repressed memories of having my mouth washed out with soap in grade school, fond of what preceded the washing, but I liked this one.
Yikes! I'll be sure to make a hard pass when I see this on the shelf.
Glad I saw this. It had a pretty deep price cut at the grocery store and was gonna grab a bottle. Think I’ll pass. Thanks
Agree with you, I get the soap, perfume, detergent immediately. I get no smoke what so ever. It finishes better, sweet but hard to distinguish what sweetness I am getting.
OK so Ive had several pours tonight so took another swing at this. Its the transition from palate to finish that brings the soap I speak of. Once it hits its hard to let it go. I wish I could add some positive feedback but other than the smoke feature this is a HARD pass for me. I still wonder if this is just my personal bias/delusion on this single malt
@soonershrink ... I hold out hope my experience is the outlier but passing is a good call imo
ooof! Took this off my list to try.
@Ctrexman Hope lives!
@Anthology for what its worth i love Balvenie Rum cask finish and was shocked by how bad this was for me. I suspect some will like this more but many will agree with me
Oh no! I’ve been dreading opening this bottle after a big let down with Pike Creek 10Yr rum finish (which incidentally had some hype here on Distiller). Ever since, I’ve been dreading anything finished in rum casks. The rums I’ve tried always seem to have this soapy, medicinal taste that I don’t enjoy. I have similar anxiety over my unopened Ardbeg Drum, Glenfiddich Reserva 21Yr old, and Blood Oath #5. I still don’t know why people describe rum as sugary. I would take that over the cough syrup taste I’ve experienced whenever someone talks me into trying rum-based drinks. Can’t shake it. Anyways, thanks for the heads-up. Maybe I’ll save my unopened bottle for a sarcastic party gift for one of my least favorite co-worker “wannabes”. Aother one bites the dust.
