Finally pick up a 375ml of this to see what all the fuss was about. Cant say I disagree with most reviews on this. The good: A refined well balanced bourbon with some sweet vanilla and good oak presence. Easy to consume with no real off notes. The Bad: Just way too thin and completely lacking depth of flavor. Mild sour oak accumulates in finish. Way overpriced and does not come close to delivering the experience it promises. This is supposed to be a higher end bourbon(not top shelf) but its weak and bland despite the polished drinkability. The fact that this shares a mashbill with the fantastic OGD114 which is almost half the price is laughable. 114 is so far superior why would anyone ever buy this more than once. Ok I guess if you want an 80pf that has some good flavor but for around the same price Michters unblended wipes the floor with poor old Basil while WT81 gobbles away at half the price........74/100....

I feel the same way, it’s an easy drinker and good to introduce someone to bourbon, but OGDBIB and OGD114 are so much better sippers to me for less money.
BT is 90pf here so didnt mention but yes easily bests this BH
And you can also get OGD100 for less than half the price of this
I'm curious, but will probably never feel like buying this.
There was a time when you could get Bakers 107 for about the same price which I considered an obscenely better deal, but you called the shot, it's an 80 proofer that still packs some decent flavor.
My mother in law likes this on the rocks. Nothing else. It has its place...
At 80 proof: WT81, Four Roses, Dickel 8, all are close to (if not as good) and less than 1/2 the price. But they don’t wear a tunic and belt ;)
Good comparisons. What about Buffalo Trace?
