HH BIB 7YR
*APPEARANCE: Great bottle and label. Probably HH's best look. Most of their packaging just seems stuck in the 90's. This should be their inspiration moving forward with any redesigns. The liquid inside is a great mahogany hue.
*NOSE: Fantastic. Sweet Corn with Butter, Vanilla, Praline Pecans, Peach, Freshly Cut Lumber, a Hint of Dry Roasted Peanut, and a Little Bitt of Barnyard. Very Promising.
*NEAT: Surprisingly Thin. Oaky and Lightly Sweet. Vanilla, Orange Peel, Some Peanut, Sawdust, and Black Pepper. Medium Length Oaky Finish with a Blooming KYHug deep in the chest. The Palate is coated with Drying Oak Tannins, Black Pepper, and Peanut Shell.
*SPLASH: Adds a touch of Fruitiness to the Palate and a little more Peanut on the coating finish.
*VERDICT: One of the better Bourbon-y Noses and Finishes I've experienced in a while. Great beginning and great end. The issue is the parts in between. The Mouthfeel was disappointing, and the flavors seemed a bit muted for a BIB. Don't get me wrong, it was good. Reminds me of a more refined EW1783. The problem is, 1783 is sub-$20, Evan Williams Single Barrels similar in age are around $35 (for now), and this one runs half a C-Note. Glad I finally found one, but consider my curiosity satisfied.

@angstrom Seen one bottle of EWSB here in Ky since that announcement and it was $40. 15 years ago when it was a ten year old product, it was a semi-annual release here, so maybe we'll see some in the fall
@BDanner I like this one more than you do, but I agree that the value proposition is a bit less at $50. It's unavailable in CT where I am, though I can typically find it in NY. But I'd pay $50 to have more on hand. Send it my way! :-)
@angstrom could be. I had heard initially they were going the allocation route, but just recently announced KY only.
@BDanner What??? Haven’t seen a EWSB bottle around here in almost two years. I wonder if they started pulling out of some markets earlier than others to stockpile barrels. Do you know if they are doing something similar with Henry McKenna SIB too?
Shit I hope I see some before they are gone so I can grab one
@Anthology not in line with brand image any more. Not selling and those barrels can be put toward other bourbons was the story I got. Wanted to preserve the label in some capacity so moving it to KY only.
@BDanner Interesting. I wonder why?
@Ctrexman and just like that, Heaven Hill announced the EW Single Barrel is KY only going forward.
Yeah its tough to beat the EWSB value
