Slainte-Mhath
Levant Highlands Black Peak
Single Malt — Lebanon

You don't get on the list of top 10 worst whiskies without reason, and this Lebanese 'pure malt' is only surpassed by Bolanachi from Egypt. Sour and sickening notes of biowaste, burned plastic and cheap deodorant emerge from the glass, while my inner voice whispers 'Don't drink this!'. The brutal punch of raw alcohol is accompanied by moldy fruits, stale beer and the distilled content of a cold ashtray. To add insult to injury, the finish is sickly sweet, persistently bitter and not short at all. An awful experience, I fear this dram will haunt me for a long time.

@PBMichiganWolverine “A” for effort???
@cascode Yeah, I assume it was an octave, certainly single cask. Let's hope there are not more of these casks to be released.
@Slainte-Mhath Good heavens, my sympathies to your taste buds! Hopefully this never makes it to our shores. A run of 84 bottles?!? How is that even possible? It must have been a single 50 litre cask.
@PBMichiganWolverine They have a long history in the wine business, and I am not saying they are not worth a try. But this particular bottling is horrendous.
@Slainte-Mhath what’s more impressive is that somehow through all the turmoil, someone managed to make whiskey in Lebanon.
@Cornmuse After an extended flight of Springbanks, this was the perfect antipode. A rude awakening!
Thanks for taking the bullet so we don't have to; your sacrifice is noted!
Additional comment: At the time of the writing of this review, Levant Highlands Black Peak ranked second worst whisky of all times on Whiskybase: https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/worst-top100
Additional information: Distilled by Riachi distillery in Lebanon, a 'craft whisky' matured in virgin oak, limited to 84 bottles (all of them for Norway, hurray!).
