Brown sherry color. Nose is brown sugar, cherries , maple, vanilla and Madeira. The taste is leathery, woody and peppery. Medium finish. I tried barrel 4747. Overall, it lacks complexity which is why I end up buying Booker's when I want good Beam.

My single comment is that this is about half the price of Bookers, and like you, I view Bookers as a penultimate achievement of bourbon.
