I’m really not that smart of a guy. I wish I was smarter. I wish I took those MCATs. I wish I thought of the next big dot com craze. But...I gotta say, I’m at least two standard deviations smarter than the guy or gal that thought of this odd couple finishing. I tried a shot of this yesterday at a local place, where it was offered next to some celery and salt. When I’m having whiskey, not sure I have the emotional bandwidth to have celery at the same time. Celery is great and whiskey is great, but together....not so sure. LIke texting while having sex. Both are great, just not recommended together. Anyway, same goes for Tabasco and whiskey. I like Tabasco on my scrambled eggs. I like Tabasco on my baked potato. I even like a bit on my pasta. But, not sure it belongs in my whiskey. Nice experiment, just not willing to pay for it. The kicker was that while I’m having this, I’m holding a $90 bottle of the new Lahroaig Cairdeas, and the guy is trying to convince me to buy this instead of the Cairdeas, despite the $55 price difference.

@PBMichiganWolverine...I definitely filed it away to try with a rye or bourbon.
@BDanner the pineapple, brown sugar and orange sounds nice. Without the Dickel or Ardbeg. But, I feel that needs at 75 degrees outside instead of this northeast cold and snow I’m in
@PBMichiganWolverine ...That's funny. I did finally try this in a recipe I saw online. It called for fresh pineapple chunks muddled with brown sugar and orange peel, 2 oz of Dickel Hot and a bar spoon of peaty scotch. Godawful. The only thing I could think while I drank it was, "I wasted a bar spoon of Ardbeg on this?"
@BDanner my geekiness coming out now: so the only species that eat hot peppers are tree shrews, some Amazon parrots, and humans. Of which the only species stupid enough to combine it with whiskey are humans. ☺️
@PBMichiganWolverine - I used to drink some Schlafly- they make some damn fine IPAs. Perhaps I will look for this Ardbeg beer and test it for scientific purposes...
@WhiskyWitch damn it dude. I had this idea an year ago...hey @LeeEvolved, as our defense secretary, I think you need to file a cease and desist order to those Schanfy guys 😑
@PBMichiganWolverine Schlafly already makes a beer aged in Ardbeg barrels, so you might want to get moving on that bourbon...
There would indeed be something poetic in using something infused with hot peppers to keep the deer away from my hot peppers.
@BDanner works well as deer and rabbit repellent for the summer vegetable garden too ☺️
I picked up a 50ml of this a few weeks ago and every time I open the drawer in which it resides I think, "Hmmmmmm.....I should just bite the bullet and try it." Then I think of other things I'd rather do (clean the toilet, mow the yard, wash the dog, scoop the litterbox) and that 50ml lives to see another day.
@Reverend357 yeah—-try it. Tabasco on eggs. Red and green Tabasco. Also on grilled cheese. And Mac and Cheese too. But not whiskey. Gotta draw the line there...
Gotta have the rotgut every so often to truly appreciate the finer stuff
@Scott_E I got a great idea for us five @Telex @Generously_Paul @LeeEvolved once we’re done with our tour: we start our own finished bourbon! We buy from MGP, finish it in barrels that once held Ardbeg ( just mention Ardbeg...it’ll sell like hot cakes).
First Mesquite Canadian and now Tabasco bourbon. Starting to live life on the edge. New dares and thrills to feel alive. Lol!
@LeeEvolved I’m two standard deviations smarter than the guy who thought of this, but at least one entire logarithm smarter than the marketing guy that sent a 50 yr old fat guy instead of a swim suit model to convince customers
😂 - buy this instead of Laphroaig. He must’ve been on crack.
