This is my first time trying a peated scotch and it was quite the experience. I get salty, smoky, and light hint of sweetness on the nose. There is also a bit of a medicinal smell that lingers but it definitely isn’t unpleasant at all.
On the palate I find I get a mix of pepper, smoke, salt, and a spicy kick that lingers for a while after taking a drink. It has a heavy, oily mouthfeel and seems to coat your entire mouth. Despite all of the intense flavors it isn’t harsh at all and I’ve found I prefer it neat as opposed to with water.
