I have been recently impressed with some of the limited expressions and Barrel Proof expression from Jack and it's really changed my opinion of this Distillery. In the past, seeing this one with the high price tag, it would have been an instant pass for me, however, today I decided why not. I was not dissapionted. As soon as it hits your pallette you know instantly this is a huge upgrade on the standard Jack single Barrel. Soft vanilla, toffee and a rich, creamy mouthfeel. It's so silky. Then you start to get a lovely old leather note with toasted oak and some must. Finish is long with a lovely tart cherry note to compliment the lingering oak. It's really a wonderful effort from Jack Daniels that warrants it's price tag. Based on these notes, it's obvious this one has a lot of age to it. Getting leather and oak notes that quickly in the profile tells me this one has some juice north of 12 years old. Great way to kick this long weekend off! Cheers my friends!

@dubz480 Thanks for getting back. And yes, it helps. I was about to head to a local store yesterday to pick up the JD 150th edition & the JD 2014 Holiday edition that was showing in-stock online. Turns out what they had was the crappy 43% ABV version. So ummm, that was over 40 miles of driving “kinda” wasted. I say “kinda” cos they did have a few of the 2014 Holiday edition (which I picked up btw), and they also had Octomore 2.1 plus a few other [long gone from the regular market] bottles on my bucket list. I picked up the Octomore 2.1 and will be going back for the others after I get over my guilt on how much I spent on the Octomore 2.1 lol 😊. So it wasn’t a total waste. I’m still going to hunt down the “real” JD 150th. I’ll let you know when I find one locally. Too bad Cali doesn’t allow alcohol shipment into state for private consumers.

@Anthology it's much better then the Heritage and I loved the Heritage. I have the 2012 Holiday Select but it's unopened. Hope this Helps!

@dubz480 How does this 150th compare against the Heritage SiB? Also have you tried any of JD Holiday Selects?

@Scott_E My buddy has a bottle and he owes me a pour! The man happily raids my cabinet but hoardes his good stuff. He also says it's very good! Based on this I am pushing him for 2 oz at least

@dubz480 Though it’s not warranted in price, in my opinion, the Sinatra blend is pretty good too.

@Rick_M Don't get me wrong, I still think the Old No7 is toilet water and the standard single barrel is just ok and overpriced. However, they hit a grandslam with this one. Sometimes you just have to applaud and say well played

Maybe someday I’ll take back all the bad things I’ve said about them. :)

@dubz480 wow—I need to try a pour. The single barrel barrel proof changed my opinion of JD

  • dubz480

@PBMichiganWolverine agreed. I killed a 1/2 bottle of that and loved it. This is one is a notch above even that. Really a great effort from Jack.

Try the Single Barrel Barrel Proof from Jack. Was really impressive for $60.
